Otsuka Sponsorships and Grants
Otsuka is dedicated to creating new products for better health worldwide. One of the ways in which Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI), Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc. (OPDC), and Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, Inc. (OMML) demonstrate their commitment to research is through their support of independent educational programs, investigator initiated research, and professional societies and charitable organizations in our communities.

Educational Grants

Requests for unrestricted grants supporting educational activities are being accepted in the therapeutic areas of cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hepatology, nephrology, treatment of major depressive disorder and oncology. Consideration of requests will be based on the following factors:

  • Excellence in patient care
  • Novel programming that is conducive to learning
  • Clearly written needs assessment that will validate program content
  • Measurable program objectives and an explanation on how the activity will meet these goals and objectives
  • Outcome measurements
  • Statement of adherence to all federal and industry guidelines
  • Accreditation status with the ACCME
  • Request received no less than 60 days prior to program date
  • Formal request letter for funding on letterhead addressed to Otsuka Grants Review, Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc, 2440 Research Blvd., Rockville, MD 20850.
  • This letter should include: 
    • program title
    • dollar amount
    • tax exempt status, if applicable
    • contact information for questions
    • completed IRS W-9 form (or W-8BEN form in Canada)
    • detailed budget including other funding sources, if applicable

Formal addressed letter and supporting materials for grant requests must be submitted via e-mail to OAPI-Grants@otsuka-us.com.

Notification of approval or disapproval of grants will generally be provided within 4-6 weeks of submission. If you do not hear from us within that time, you may inquire about the status of your request by sending an e-mail to OAPI-Grants@otsuka-us.com.

Research Grants

In a continuing effort to address unmet medical needs, our companies support outside research initiatives to complement internal programs. Areas of interest include cardiology, endocrinology, hepatology, nephrology, and oncology. Support for investigator-initiated trials (IIT) will be based on the following criteria:

  • Medical impact – proposed research should have a potential impact on the disease area being investigated
  • Clinically sound – research design and protocol likely to achieve the objectives
  • Investigator or Institution must have the resources to conduct the research
  • Detailed budget for the project
  • Publication of results

Community & Charitable Donations

We are committed to better health and we support this commitment through philanthropic activities. To strengthen community ties, we are interested in supporting programs for the underserved, minority populations, and local (Washington, DC Metropolitan area and Princeton, NJ area) patient advocacy groups involved with neuroscience, gastroenterology, cardiology, hepatology, endocrinology, nephrology, and oncology.

Requests for donations can be submitted by providing the following information:
  • Name of the organization
  • Activity to be supported
  • Amount requested
  • Contact information for questions
  • Completed IRS W-9 form (or W-8BEN form in Canada)
  • Verification of 501(c) (3) status

Requests must be received no less than 60 days prior to need. Submissions must be made via email to OAPI-Grants@otsuka-us.com.
