Mark Altmeyer
President & Chief Executive Officer A seasoned and highly successful healthcare executive with over 25 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Mark Altmeyer joined Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI) in January 2009 as President and Chief Executive Officer. Committed to taking OAPI to the next level of growth and development, Mr. Altmeyer has strategically re-aligned its leadership by bringing in a team of accomplished industry leaders to complement the existing corps of talented executives. In addition to immediately strengthening OAPI's relationships with its development and promotion partners, as president he oversaw the launch of Samsca®, an oral hyponatremia medication, positioning the company to operate in a new and exciting healthcare sphere. He has also embarked on a company-wide initiative to enhance the current sales and marketing organizations with additional best-in-class talent, establishing OAPI as a highly competitive specialty company within the U.S. Mr. Altmeyer earned his well-deserved reputation as a drug commercialization strategist and leader prior to coming to Otsuka. Developing an impressive background in pharmaceutical sales and marketing, he spent over sixteen years with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. rising from Sales Representative to Senior Vice President, Global Commercialization. During those years, he also held positions of increasing importance including Product Manager, Director, Senior Director, Vice President and Senior Vice President, delivering on premier brands including Pravachol, Glucophage, and ABILIFY® (aripirprazole). Extending his successes beyond the U.S. market, Mr. Altmeyer worked internationally as the General Manager of BMS's operations in Turkey. This led to his appointment as Senior Vice President, Global Commercialization. In that position, he was responsible for the global marketing of all neuroscience and oncology assets - the therapeutic areas on which Otsuka is focusing, and which will help us drive Otsuka's future, rapid growth. Prior to joining BMS in 1992, Mr. Altmeyer devoted his efforts to marketing and development for Cetus Corporation, both as a Product Manager in oncology and a Business Development Manager. He started his career with Bristol Labs, a division of Bristol-Myers, as a Marketing Associate and Group Product Analyst. Mr. Altmeyer earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Middlebury College in Vermont, and his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business. Active in the healthcare arena as well as his own community, he is on the Board of Directors for both Contact of Mercer County and the Trinity Counseling Service. In addition he also serves as a Middlebury College Alumni Recruiter. He, his wife Sharon, and their three children reside in Princeton, NJ. John Bardi John A. Bardi is Vice President, Government Affairs at Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc., where he is responsible for overseeing the company’s short and long term strategy development and execution of government policy, advocacy and payer initiatives. Before joining Otsuka, Mr. Bardi worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he was Vice President, U.S. Managed Markets and Senior Director, Marketing for ABILIFY® (aripiprazole). Mr. Bardi also worked at GlaxoSmithKline as Vice President, Long Term Care Channel Accounts and Director of National Accounts, Institutional Sales. Prior to entering the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Bardi served as Vice President, Clinical and Professional Services at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Mr. Bardi received a Master of Health Services Administration degree from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania Regina Cavaliere
As OAPI's Chief Compliance Officer, Ms. Cavaliere directs the Ethics, Quality & Compliance (EQC) group. Under her leadership, EQC is responsible for the implementation and execution of the company-wide compliance program consistent with the Corporate Integrity Agreement and GxP systems. Ms. Cavaliere has partnered with the sales force to make the often complex compliance issues more accessible. Prior to joining Otsuka, Ms. Cavaliere was the Vice President and Senior Counsel for Healthcare Law Compliance with Alpharma Pharmaceuticals where she was responsible for developing a comprehensive compliance program for sales, marketing and medical affairs. Ms. Cavaliere spent ten years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, winning awards and recognitions for her work as Senior Counsel to the US Pharmaceuticals division of US Healthcare Law Compliance. There, she not only provided advice and counsel on compliance matters, but also supervised a team to implement a comprehensive compliance program through the development of policies, directives and procedures. She also conducted compliance and ethics training while helping to negotiate the Corporate Integrity Agreement with the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services. She received her Bachelors Degree (cum laude) from Seton Hall University and her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, where she was the Managing Production Editor of, and published author in, the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal. Ms. Cavaliere also pursued additional studies at The Jagiellonian University in Kracow, Poland.
Steve Cobourn
Arriving at OAPI four years after its incorporation, Steve Coburn, a model of Jissho, has held a series of positions with increasing responsibilities, resulting in his appointment as Vice President, Finance and Treasurer in 2003. He joined OAPI as a General Accounting Manager quickly demonstrating superior financial and strategic acumen as Senior Finance Manager, Director of Corporate Planning, and Director of Finance and Corporate Planning. Mr. Cobourn's career at OAPI has spanned commercial launches, alliance management, licensing negotiations, R&D accounting, and finance re-engineering. Prior to joining OAPI, Mr. Cobourn served as lead for a Philadelphia regional accounting firm providing auditing, tax and business consulting services to manufacturers and wholesalers, as well as heading quality control review. Mr. Cobourn, a C.P.A., holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Drexel University. He is also active in his community, providing awareness for autism research and support. Mark Glickman
With a 20-year history of success as a sales and marketing executive, Mark Glickman has aligned the Medical Device Division (MDD) with the strategic vision of OAPI, as he prepares the organization for its next period of growth and development. Committed to excellence at all levels, Mr. Glickman has put in place systems and processes that will drive MDD's performance as a business unit, as well as the engagement and accountability of its employees. Beginning as a Sales Specialist with Baxter Healthcare in 1990, Mark quickly moved through the ranks of several organizations, including Bristol-Meyers Squibb, as a District Manager, General Manager, Product Manager, Director of Marketing, Regional Sales Director, and Vice President of Sales and Sales Operations. Prior to arriving at Otsuka, Mr. Glickman served as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Oscient Pharmaceuticals. His varied portfolio includes driving major product launches, sales force performance maximization, integrating acquisitions and strategic partnerships, and overall commercial organization leadership. Mark is a graduate of SUNY-Oswego and earned his Master of Business Administration from New York University. Robert Mack
Bob Mack joined Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI) in September 2008, with extensive experience in multiple industries, including Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and Consumer Products. A distinguished IT executive, Mr. Mack, over the past decade gained extensive international experience through several assignments that supported operations in Asia, Europe and the Americas driving major globalization initiatives. A master of large scale initiatives, he held the role of Vice President, Enterprise Solutions at Pfizer accountable for all the global Enterprise Corporate Systems (supporting 60+ countries) as well as held the role of Senior Director of U.S. Commercial IT Systems supporting Pfizer's U.S. Sales Organization. Prior to joining OAPI, Mr. Mack held the position of Senior Vice President/CIO, Information Technology and Innovation with Reliance Life Sciences, the largest company in India. Mr. Mack holds a Master's of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. Martin Rose, M.D., J.D.
Responsible for the management of the Medical Affairs Department of OAPI, Martin Rose was appointed Vice President, Medical Affairs in April 2006. He has held a number of prominent positions throughout his distinguished career, including Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Sparta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where he provided direction and management for all clinical and regulatory activities and Quintiles Strategic Regulatory Division, where he served as Vice President of Drug Development providing clients with strategic and tactical services. In addition to the above, Dr. Rose has held senior level positions at Alpha 1 Biomedicals, Inc., Genentech, Inc., the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the National Institutes of Health, as well as having a private medical practice in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Otsuka, Dr. Rose served as Executive Vice President, Research and Development of InKine Pharmaceutical Co., Inc. where he provided direction for all clinical and regulatory activities and evaluated in-licensing opportunities. Dr. Rose attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Ohio State University and holds BS and MD degrees from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds a California Medical License. Dr. Rose also holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. In addition, he participates in numerous professional organizations and has published articles in a wide range of publications, including the New England Journal of Medicine. Behshad Sheldon
As Senior Vice President, Patient and Branding Strategy, Behshad Sheldon is responsible for the overall strategic marketing vision of Otsuka global and US products (both in-house and in-licensed) which currently reside in OAPI and OPDC, respectively. Her leadership and position allows for the synergy between the two organizations, leveraging a strong marketing function that can deliver US, Global, and Early Development services. Highly regarded in the industry for her strategic marketing expertise, Ms. Sheldon joined Otsuka in July 2002, as Vice President, Neuroscience Global Commercialization to manage Otsuka's alliance with Bristol-Myers Squibb. Her outstanding performance led to increased responsibilities as Vice President, Global Marketing and included all products representing global business opportunities for Otsuka. In that role she influenced teams working on all aspects of drug development, from drug discovery through life cycle management of launched products, working with Tokushima discovery in identifying unmet medical needs and future directions in development of our new products. Ms. Sheldon began her career in the pharmaceutical industry as a sales representative and has held positions in sales, training, and domestic as well as global marketing over the past 23 years. Prior to joining Otsuka, she was a Senior Director in Global Marketing at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she was responsible for the marketing success of blockbuster drugs Plavix and Glucophage. Ms. Sheldon's other commercial experiences have included managing successful marketing initiatives at SmithKline Beecham, including Bactroban, one of the most successful dermatology products ever launched. Ms. Sheldon holds a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Rochester. Steven J. Weisel Steven J. Weisel is Vice President and General Counsel of Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc., where he is responsible for leadership and management of the Legal Affairs department and the Information Resources Center. His areas of responsibility include contracts, intellectual property and litigation. Mr. Weisel has held a number of positions in Otsuka overseeing legal and human resources functions. He was most recently Senior Director and Corporate Counsel, playing a leading role in transforming the company into a highly competitive organization, focused on launching its own products. Previously, he served as Senior Corporate Attorney and Senior Human Resources Business Partner. Mr. Weisel joined Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. in 2001 after a career in business that included overseeing human resources functions at a major commercial printing company and two technology companies Mr. Weisel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University.
