Otsuka is committed to making a difference in people’s health by working with local and national advocacy groups and community organizations to bring about positive change.   

 

 

 

 

National Outreach includes:

 

American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Otsuka supported AACAP’s 55th Annual meeting, the largest and most well attended scientific meeting of child and adolescent psychiatrists in the world.

 

American Hospital Association

Otsuka provides support to the AHA to help it lead, represent and serve hospitals, health systems and other related organizations that are accountable to the community and committed to health improvement.

 

American Psychiatric Foundation

Otsuka supports APF by sponsoring their annual meeting.

 

Autism Speaks

Otsuka supports the local Autism Walk event to raise money to continue research to find a cure for autism.

 

Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network (BMT InfoNet)

BMT InfoNet is a leading patient education and support organization for people in need of a bone marrow, blood stem cell or cord blood transplant.  Otsuka has supported the organization with a grant to help fund their annual “Celebrating Life Calendar” which provides hope and inspiration to thousands of transplant patients, survivors and medical personnel who work with this patient population.

 

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance

Otsuka supports DBSA’s patient/consumer and general public education outreach efforts “to improve the lives of people living with mood disorders.”

 

Information Television Network

Otsuka provided an unrestricted educational grant to ITN to be used for the development and production of the educational oncology series “Waging War on Cancer”, airing nationally on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS).

 

Mental Health America (formerly the National Mental Health Association)

Otsuka sponsors >MHA’s yearly Public Education and Outreach Institute.

 

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

Otsuka is a key sponsor of the Campaign for the Mind of America and supports NAMI’s educational efforts at their Annual Meeting.

 

The National Association of Managed Care Physicians

Otsuka supports NAMCP’s annual meeting which enables managed care professionals to learn about the latest trends, updates and issues impacting the healthcare industry.

 

PKD Foundation

Otsuka supports the research efforts of the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation and is a sponsor of the foundation’s Annual Walk. 

World Federation for Mental Health – For several years Otsuka has sponsored the World Mental Health Day project and supports their efforts to cure mental illness.

Otsuka’s support of two leadership programs: the Leader in Youth Program (LYP) and the Executive Certification Program in Nonprofit Leadership (ECNPL) contributed to helping the youth of the Washington DC community and directors of nonprofit organizations in the development of their leadership skills.

Japan Commerce Association of Washington, DC

Otsuka supports community activities to foster improved understanding and communication between Japan and the US. 

 

Mental Health Association of Montgomery County (Maryland)

Otsuka provides ongoing support to community based mental health and education seminars in Montgomery County.

 

Montgomery County (Maryland) Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH)

Otsuka supports public service announcements to educate area residents about homelessness in Montgomery County and sponsors its annual walk.  Otsuka was named a finalist in the Washington Business Journal / Greater DC Cares 2008 Philanthropy Award Program for our support of MCCH.

 

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Montgomery County (Maryland)

Otsuka helps NAMI raise funds and awareness through the annual NAMI Walks Montgomery County event, and is a sponsor of the annual Heroes Dinner. 

 

NeedyMeds

Otsuka supports the annual publication and distribution of NeedyMeds’ brochure describing patient assistance programs and how to learn more about them.

 

 

Otsuka Minority Health Disparities Initiatives include:

 

American Psychiatric Foundation

Otsuka supports APF’s annual Awards for Advancing Minority Mental Health, which recognize programs and individuals that have undertaken innovative and supportive efforts to raise awareness of mental health issues and improve access and quality of care in underserved populations. Otsuka is also the sponsor of the APF’s Helping Hands program to support medical students working in collaboration with existing community agencies.

Mental Health Association of Montgomery County (Maryland)

Otsuka supports the N*Common (New Capacity & Outreach for Multicultural Mental health Opportunities Now) initiative which aids the county’s growing multicultural population in need of mental health services.

 

NAMI (National Alliance of the Mentally Ill)

Otsuka is a sponsor of NAMI’s Multicultural Summit which brings together advocates from across the nation to address the current disparities in mental health care that affect communities of color.

 

PhRMA

Otsuka is involved in state steering committees and the PhRMA Philanthropy Committee.
